PFS' donation to Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

01 April 2022

PFS' latest charitable contribution has been made to the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. The DEC brings together 15 leading aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of crisis overseas. In these times of crisis, people in life-and-death situations need help and their mission is to save, protect and rebuild lives through effective humanitarian response. Pooling resources to work as one, the DEC is pivotal in co-ordinating the UK public's response to overseas disasters. In collaboration with their Rapid Response Network of national media and corporate partners, they raise the alarm to the UK public and set up easy ways for them to donate -and provide immediate impact, getting aid to people who need it, fast. More than 3 million people have fled their homes to escape conflict in Ukraine. Leaving behind jobs, belongings and loved ones, they now face an uncertain future. Intense conflict in Ukraine is threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country. Families have been separated. People have been injured. Lives have been lost. Homes have been destroyed or are unsafe to live in. Critical infrastructure such as health facilities, water supplies and schools have also been damaged or destroyed. At Ukraine’s borders with Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova, huge numbers of people are arriving with only what they can carry. In many places there are long waits to cross and scant facilities waiting for them on the other side, with temperatures dropping below freezing overnight. DEC charities are in Ukraine and neighbouring countries meeting the needs of all refugees and displaced people.

CEO Paul Kneen and the PFS CSR Committee is proud to be able to support such a worthwhile cause.
